v0.0.3 - A Change of Scenery
Another update is here! This one doesn't change much in terms of gameplay, but it does bring you a much needed change of scenery, a handy new photo management feature, and, of course, a new bird! Let's take a closer look at what this update has in store:
New Backdrop - North Fostershire
Until now, truth be told, there wasn't much to see at the Park. Sure, there were the birds, and the trees, but beyond that? Nothing. Just an empty blue void (with the occasional cloud drifting by). This all changes in version 0.0.3, as we're bringing you a brand new backdrop. Now, you can look out across the rolling fields, winding roads and cosy villages of North Fostershire, and even spot a train or two...
New Feature - Delete Photos
As promised in our last devlog, we're bringing you a new photo management feature in this update. You can now delete all photos of a specific bird. Just look up that bird in your guide book and press the 'X' button at the top of the page. Any photos you've taken of this bird will be deleted, but all your other photos will remain intact. Of course, you can still clear the whole book at once from the settings menu.
Warning - There is currently no confirmation prompt when pressing the 'X' button. Pressing it will delete your photos INSTANTLY!
New Bird - Eurasian Wren
The Eurasian Wren (simply referred to in the Spotter's Guide as 'wren') is Britain's most common bird, with almost 9 million individuals in the wild. Although it may be common, it is in fact listed as 'amber' in the recently published Birds of Conservation Concern 5. This makes it the first amber-listed bird to be added to the game. Spot the tiny wren in Skelburn Park now, and spot it in real life before it's too late...
Minor Tweaks / Bug Fixes
And finally, to round off this update, we're bringing you a few minor changes and patching over a couple of bugs. Here's the list:
- Ambient birdsong will now loop continuously
- Main menu now displays correct version number
- Restructured some scripts to optimise performance
And that's it! There isn't much else to say, so we'll see you next week for another update. Who knows what this one might bring...
